Saudi Arabian forces say they have raided two terrorist hideouts in Riyadh where
militants may have been planning a terrorist attack.
According to a statement read on Saudi television Friday, Saudi security
forces were following a group that was "preparing for a terrorist act," and
they have seized explosives, rifles, and rocket-propelled grenades from two
locations in Riyadh.
Saudi officials did not immediately give details about who they have arrested,
but said they are still looking for seven members of the alleged terrorist
cell.
On Thursday, five Saudi security agents and one civilian were killed during
a raid in eastern Riyadh. Agents following a tip that a suspected terrorist
may be hiding in a house there, uncovered a cache of weapons and arrested several
suspects.
Saudi Arabia has tightened security measures in an effort to protect the
millions of Muslims who are currently making their annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
