An Islamist website has posted a
statement attributed to the al-Qaida terror network, claiming responsibility
for killing one American and kidnapping another Saturday in Saudi Arabia.
The statement says the captured American is employed by for the U.S. defense
contractor Lockheed-Martin and worked on Apache helicopters.
It says the abductors will treat the hostage the same way Americans have
treated prisoners at the U.S. Navy Base at Guantanamo and Iraq's Abu Graib
prison.
The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has confirmed that one American civilian was shot
dead in Riyadh and another is missing. The embassy says it is working with
Saudi authorities to find the missing man.
Suspected al-Qaida militants have killed three Westerners in the past week
in the Saudi capital.
