FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
COALITION FORCES DROP LEAFLETS IN SOUTHERN IRAQ
SOUTHWEST ASIA - Coalition aircraft dropped informational leaflets over
southern Iraq today.
Coalition forces dropped leaflets at approximately 8:00 a.m. EST over
Al Majar and Qal at Sukkar. Al Majar is approximately 200 miles southeast
of Baghdad, and Qal at Sukkar is approximately 130 miles southeast of
Baghdad. The Coalition dropped a total of 120,000 leaflets over both locations.
The leaflets referred Iraqis to radio frequencies where Coalition forces
are broadcasting information about United Nations Security Council Resolution
1441, United Nations weapons inspectors in Iraq, Iraqi President Saddam
Hussein's reign and other topics.
This was the eleventh leaflet drop over southern Iraq by Coalition aircraft
in three months.
