COALITION FORCES DROP LEAFLETS IN SOUTHERN IRAQ
MACDILL AFB, TAMPA – Coalition aircraft dropped informational leaflets
over southern Iraq yesterday, Sunday, 19 January.
Coalition forces dropped leaflets at approximately 7:16 a.m. EST over
Ar Rumaythah, Qawam Al Hamazah, Ash Shahtra, Ar Riffa, Qal’ at Sukkar
and Al Majar. The six cities are all located approximately 130 to 225
miles southeast of Baghdad. The Coalition dropped a total of 360,000 leaflets
over the six locations.
The leaflets referred Iraqis to radio frequencies where Coalition forces
are broadcasting information about United Nations Security Council Resolution
1441, United Nations weapons inspectors in Iraq, Iraqi President Saddam
Hussein’s reign and other topics.
This was the fifth leaflet drop over southern Iraq by Coalition aircraft
in 2003.
